Helping Fairfax & Vienna VA Area Families to Say Goodbye
Pets hold a very special place in everyone’s hearts. We never want to see them suffering or in pain. That said, saying goodbye to a long-time friend is never easy, even if it is in the pet’s best interests.
At Town & Country Animal Hospital, our compassionate veterinarians and staff will be there for you and your pet. If you require counseling about your pet’s quality of life and potential next steps, our veterinarians will carefully review each of the options available.
Should hospice or pet end-of-life care services become necessary, we can assist you with those as well. We will work with you to ensure that your pet is comfortable and treated with dignity throughout this difficult process.
Pet Grief Counseling
Losing a pet is a life-altering event, and everyone processes grief differently. It’s important to allow yourself to mourn your pet’s passing in whatever manner and time frame feels right to you.
Our veterinarians and staff will be happy to assist you however we can. In addition, you may wish to turn to these resources:
Pet grief counseling hotlines—There are a variety of helpful support networks available, many of them sponsored by veterinary schools, including our own Virginia Tech. You may wish to review the services available and see if any of them speak to your needs.
Pet loss library—Sometimes reading about the experiences of others can help us to work through our own grief. This library contains articles about pets who have passed and the people who loved them, as well as helpful pieces written by grief professionals.
If you would like to create an online tribute to your beloved pet, we invite you to do so through our website. We appreciate the special bond you shared and would welcome the chance to help you memorialize it.
Light a candle—Create a virtual eternal light for your special friend and companion.
Pet memorial wall—Share a paw print and a special message about your pet with others in the Town & Country family who have experienced a similar loss.
Pet memorials—Show the world just how beautiful your pet was through pictures, poems, and stories—whatever feels most appropriate to you.
My Mother and I have always taken all of our cats to T&C as well as Columbia Pike. Personally, I always see Dr Davis Hall and he is fabulous. I was blessed to find such a kind, caring, and knowledgeable doctor.
