Intensive Care Unit:

Advanced Monitoring & Veterinary Care

Cat in a cage

When a pet experiences a major shock or trauma, whether it’s due to a car or another animal, he or she needs immediate emergency veterinary care. Administering this treatment is merely the first step on the road to recovery, however. Just as with major surgery, there are a myriad of complications that could arise.

That’s why at Town & Country Animal Hospital, we have an intensive care unit where critically injured and ill pets—as well as those recovering from advanced veterinary surgery—can receive the specialized monitoring and care they need.

State-of-the-art Veterinary Equipment

Our animal hospital is equipped with high-tech monitoring devices, enabling our dedicated staff to carefully supervise each intensive care patient’s ongoing health status. We use a Doppler blood pressure machine and electrocardiography (ECG) to monitor each pet’s blood pressure, heart rhythm, and electrical impulses. A pulse oximeter is used to ensure that the appropriate level of oxygen saturation is maintained in the blood. IV catheters are used to administer much-needed fluids and pet medications to prevent dehydration, control infection, and manage pain.

Should additional veterinary diagnostic tests be needed, our hospital is fully equipped to run them in a timely manner. From our in-house laboratory, where blood tests results can be turned around within 30 minutes, to our digital X-ray and veterinary ultrasound technology, we can quickly and accurately diagnose any pet health complications that could potentially arise.

Highly-Trained Veterinarians & Staff

While our modern veterinary hospital has all of the necessary tools, it is truly our experienced team of compassionate veterinarians and staff that makes the real difference.

In addition to being skilled surgeons, our doctors are knowledgeable about all areas of veterinary internal medicine. Should the need arise, we also have a network of board-certified specialists available for consultations.

Our dedicated veterinary staff offers a calm and reassuring presence to pets while keeping an educated and watchful eye on them to be sure everything is as it should be. In addition, if your pet is in our intensive care unit, our veterinary staff will provide you with regular updates on how your furry family member’s recovery is progressing. We understand just how important your pet is to you, and we will do everything we can to provide exceptional care to you both.

Our in-house laboratory is just one of the valuable veterinary diagnostic tools we use to provide your pet with the exceptional care he or she deserves.
