Who is Dr. Rebecca Reusch?
Dr. Reusch came to Northern Virginia from New England after earning her veterinary degree at Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. She did her internship at our sister hospital, Columbia Pike, in emergency medicine, general practice and surgery. She has also worked shifts here at Town and Country, so you may have met her already.
Preventive care, senior pets, emergency and critical care, and behavior are her special interests.
What does Fear Free Certified mean in Clifton?
Fear Free is an outside program that trains veterinary teams to prevent fear, anxiety and stress in pets. To certify a practice, Fear Free reviews its protocols and medical records and watches how the team handles patients. Animal Clinic of Clifton passed that review, and its care team earned individual Fear Free certification.
In Clifton, the team greets your pet calmly, offers treats and gives them time to settle. They watch your pet’s body language and slow down when your pet needs it. If your dog or cat gets nervous at the vet, mention it when you book. If your pet is very anxious, the Clifton veterinarian may recommend a calming medication you give at home before the Fear Free Appointment.
Why might Clifton be a good fit for your pet?
Some pet parents simply prefer a quiet, small-town clinic. Dr. Reusch grew up working in a practice with a very similar feel, in a small town in Vermont. “I’m really looking forward to returning to my roots and getting to know all of the clients and patients and all the four-legged family members here in this area,” she says.
“Dr. Reusch and the Clifton team are amazing. … Dr. Reusch treats our pets like they are her own.”
