A Legacy of Care: How Columbia Pike, Town & Country, and Animal Clinic of Clifton Were Built on Love

From a ranch in West Texas to a family of trusted veterinary hospitals in Northern Virginia, the story behind Columbia Pike, Town & Country, and Animal Clinic of Clifton is rooted in one promise: Love People. Love Pets.

Where It All Began

Dr. Davis Hall didn’t grow up with access to veterinary care. In his small hometown, there wasn’t money to call a vet. Still, his love for animals ran deep. He raised sheep, pigs, and calves through FFA, worked on his grandfather’s 3,800-acre ranch, and learned to care for animals with whatever tools he had.

“I probably didn’t even know what a vet was when I was eight,” he said. “But I knew I loved animals.”

That love, paired with determination and grit, would one day build something much bigger.

From West Texas to the Nation’s Capital

After graduating from Texas A&M, which was an all-male military school at the time, Dr. Hall joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. A last-minute reassignment brought him to Washington, where he began working with the Army’s ceremonial horses.

One of those horses, Blackjack, became the riderless cap horse in President John F. Kennedy’s funeral procession. Dr. Hall cared for Blackjack before the ceremony, unaware at the time how significant that moment would become.

The First Clinic

Columbia Pike Animal Hospital started in an old gas station. Dr. Hall removed the pumps, dug the foundation himself, and built the clinic from scratch. He worked seven days a week, treating horses at night and building a client base by day.

He purchased Town & Country Animal Hospital and began expanding both facilities. He went back and forth between the two, often working sixteen-hour days, until he was finally able to hire help and begin growing his team.

A Family Effort

Dr. Hall’s son, Dr. Reed Hall, grew up surrounded by animals. He rode along on horse calls, spent time in the clinics, and learned the meaning of hard work from his father’s example.

“We always had animals,” Reed remembers. “Goats, pigs, even a deer with a broken leg in the kitchen. And I loved going to work with my dad.”

Eventually, Reed followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the practice. Together, they expanded the hospitals further, always guided by compassion, service, and the Golden Rule.

A Growing Mission

In 2025Animal Clinic of Clifton officially joined the Columbia Pike and Town & Country family. With this addition, more pet owners across Northern Virginia can now experience the same personalized care and family atmosphere that have defined these hospitals for decades.

The mission has never changed. Treat people right. Care for animals like they are your own. Show up with compassion, every single day.

“If you treat people the way you want to be treated, business takes care of itself,” said Dr. Hall.
“We’ve always believed in loving people and loving pets.”

The Heart of the Team

Dr. Hall often reflects on the team that now surrounds him. He speaks with deep pride and emotion about the doctors, technicians, and staff who carry on the mission.

“I get goosebumps watching them work. The way they care for the animals, for our clients, and for each other. It inspires me.”

“We laugh together. We cry together. They truly care, and I hope they know how much I care about them too.”

More Than Medicine

These hospitals are not just buildings. They are places where animals are loved, people are respected, and legacies are honored.

“My dad is my best friend,” said Dr. Reed Hall. “Not many people get to say that. I come to work every day happy because of the people around me.”

At Columbia Pike, Town & Country, and Animal Clinic of Clifton, everything we do comes back to our core belief:
